The Black Diamond ATC Guide Belay Device is by far one of the most versatile belay devices built today. Now even lighter thanks to the machined windows through the body, and even more enlarged auto-block release whole to accept a small carabiner (for those instances where slack is needed to be given). Multiple friction modes allow you to dial in how much stopping power you need when belaying somebody or how much friction you would like for your rappel. This device can also be used for belaying 2 people ("seconding”) while you belay from on top with the auto-block feature. This device harbors all of the beautiful things of the original ATC while adding a few essential functions for the modern day Alpine guide or anybody wishing to climb like one.
