From Rock Exotica comes an HMS carabiner with more features than any. The gate has been engineered to refined perfection with an outstanding minor axis breaking strength of 11 kN. The gate even has an inward breaking strength of 6 kN, far outperforming other carabiners, which rarely exceed a 2 kN rating. The gate even opens at an angle in order to provide a larger-than-normal gate clearance. The wide top end of the 'biner is perfect for any belay device or a munter hitch on a large rope.

The Pirate comes in screw lock, auto lock, and manual lock versions. The screw lock is a standard screw-to-lock mechanism. The auto lock is a spring loaded 3-stage pull and twist-to-unlock mechanism. The manual lock is like the auto lock, but the mechanism stays unlocked when twisted open, and then must be manually manipulated to activate the spring loaded lock. It has the same function as the screw lock with much simpler operation, meaning that with a simple pull-twist action it will stay unlocked until you pull-release to let it spring back into locked position. All versions of the gate warn you with a skull and cross bones when the gate is unlocked.
